This website is a conceptual example of a digital exhibit that uses React, Next.JS, TailwindCSS, and a CMS to create a dynamic, interactive, and educational multimedia experience.
This was created as a project for Loyola University Chicago's graduate Digital Humanities program. All of the media was sourced from the Chicago History Museum's digital collection with permission as part of our project.
There are three narratives, which are that can be explored by clicking the links below. The Rainbow Coalition Narrative is a is an example of an ‘ideal‘ experience as it contains the most fleshed out historical content and audio. Each piece of media can be flipped from a narrative experience to information about the media itself by user, although no information about the digital collection is included, so its just an concept. In the Collection page, you can see all of the media that was used in the narratives.
Finally, the Maps page is an example of how users could interact with a map of relevant locations of an subject using a CMS. Each location in the map is real and can be clicked to see more information about it, although most locations have very little actual content.
